Trubute to Carolina Hinestrosa in Congressional Record

Lida Buki, Board Member

Gloria Elliott, Board Member

"For me she was a real leader the kind that surface conflict, challenges long held belief and demand new ways of doing things. Encourage other Latinas and others to do the same in their own way"

Lidia Carnota, Board Member

I am feeling deep sadness that not only has, the Hispanic Community, but the Scientific community lost a true leader. I am so greatful I was able to call her my friend. My prayers are with Nueva Vida and all her Family and Friends.

Light, Guide, Friend, Hope, Strength, Inspiration.

These are the words that only begin to describe what Carolina was to me and to all Nueva Vida’s team.  Those are the words that we will remember you by.

Carolina, helped plant the seed that made Nueva Vida an organization of strong believes and based on facts, then she made sure that the tree grew strong in a fertile soil before moving on to do bigger things- and be part of NBCC. Today, Latino women who arrive at the doors of Nueva Vida leave with support, education and guide, but mainly they leave empowered and with the strength to fight cancer. Nueva Vida is part of your legacy we are very proud to carry over your lessons and follow what we learned from you.

Carolina will be missed immensely.  We all wish we could enjoy her more and could see her celebrate life the way she did. We all remember you as a fighter; no one doubts for a minute that wherever you are you will continue to give us the strength and guide us to win the battle against breast cancer finding the cure.  Not only for your daughter, but for all our daughters, sisters and mothers who are or will be in this fight.

We love you,

Larisa Caicedo
Executive Director
