Larisa
C. Caicedo, MA, Executive Director. She represents Nueva Vida on the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) Board of Directors. She is also a member of the Komen
National Hispanic/Latina Advisory Council
and of the Latin American Cancer Research Coalition Advisory Board. Ms. Caicedo is an NBCC Project Lead graduate and also a graduate of the 2005 American Association for Cancer Research Scientist-Survivor Program. Her background includes project management, fundraising and outreach for the Latino community as well as involvement in Latin American international cooperation programs and economic development issues. As a volunteer, she developed successful fundraising strategies and took charge of event planning for other non-profit organizations that serve Latin American communities, such as Kidsave Internacional - for the Kids of Colombia, Fundación María Eugenia Belandia and Many Hats Institute (MHI). She studied in Colombia, her native country, and holds a Masters' degree in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

Lidia
Carnota, MD, Survivorship Program Supervisor and a cancer survivor. She is a Board Certified
psychiatrist, She is co-founder and currently Chair of the Board
of Directors of Nueva Vida and the supervisor to the Survivorship
Program. Dr, Carnota is a psychiatrist with the Multicultural
Program and the Corrections Behavioral Health Program in Montgomery
County Maryland. She is also the consulting psychiatrist for
Neighbors Consejo in Washington DC.

| Carolina Hinestrosa, MA, MPH, Access Porgram Supervisor. She is a two time breast cancer survivor, and a co-founder and first Executive Director of Nueva Vida. She is also a founding and current member of Nueva Vida’s Board of Directors. Ms. Hinestrosa is the Executive Vice President of the National Breast Cancer Coalition – NBCC-, and the 2004 Chair of the Integration Panel of the Breast Cancer Research Program of the Department of Defense. She is a leader in the breast cancer movement in the United States, and serves Nueva Vida and NBCC in numerous research and public policy committees. Ms. Hinestrosa holds graduate degrees in Economics and Public Health. |
Olga Pulgar-Vidal, MA, Access and Outreach Coordninator. She has broad experience in health education and prevention working as Dental Faculty and Lecturer in different Universities around the world as Peru, Sweden, Mexico, Argentina and the US. She has developed, implemented and executed many Oral Health Preventive Programs in rural and suburban areas targeted to reach underserved populations specially children. She is a National Breast Cancer Coalition 2007 Project LEAD and Quality Care graduate and a facilitator at Measuring what Matters: Ensuring meaningful Quality Measures in Breast Cancer. Graduate Scientist-Survivor Program at the AACR Science of Cancer Health Disparities Conference in 2007. |
Claudia Campos Galván, MA. Survivorship Program Coordinator. She is a Psychologist from the Rafael Landívar University, Guatemala; she has Master’s Degree with distinction “Magna Cum Laude” in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health from Mariano Gálvez University, Guatemala and she is Clinical Psychology and Mental Health PhD Candidate from the same university. Her specialty areas are s exuality and management of anxiety, pain, and depression. She has experience in managing and facilitating multidisciplinary groups, at national and international levels. Her background includes the coordination and development of the regional guideline of HIV Testing and Counseling for Latin America and the Caribbean, for the Pan American Health Organization/ World Health Organization. Support of other agencies and/or organizations (national and international) to strengthen the leadership, gender, sexuality, Human Rights, and reduction of violence against the women. In Guatemala, her contry of orgigin, she was the vice president of Research Center, Training, and Support for the women, program coordinator of training and sensitization in leadership in sexual and reproductive health for Central America.

| Ana Quijada, Survivor, Peer Counselor and Patient Navigator. She is also an administrative assistant at Shady Grove Hospital since 2002 at the Breast Cancer Screening Program where she is responsible schedules, calling patients, filing and providing translation services. She is a graduate from NBCC – Project LEAD 2006. She was nominated by Nueva Vida as “Breast Cancer Hero of the Year” in 2005 for Lifetime TV awards. |
Mary Drake, MPH, Research Develpmet Coordinator. She is registered nurse with a master’s degree in international public health. She has a passion for working side-by-side with others for positive change and has a specific interest in vulnerable populations. Mrs. Drake has conducted research on family planning and maternal health in El Salvador and child health in Guatemala. She has advised Ministries of Health in Guatemala, El Salvador, Tanzania, Uganda and Malawi on women’s health issues including family planning, HIV/AIDS and strategies for improving quality of hospital-based and primary care. In the United States she has worked with the Latino community in primary care and in clinical oncology nursing. Mrs. Drake volunteers with an international women’s health organization aimed at empowering women, eliminating gender-based violence and improving maternal and newborn health in developing countries.
